Last Wednesday we had the great pleasure of recognizing member Todd Kiick for his Paul Harris Award.  His contributions of support to the Rotary International Foundation have special meaning this year.  We are celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the beginnings of the RI Foundation this coming October.

Our club and district have particular significance in the history of the RI Foundation.  Arch C. Klumph is well known in Cleveland History for organizing and managing the Cleveland Orchestra.  He was a Rotarian from the Cleveland Club who served as International President in 1916.  At that time Arch called upon RI to create an endowment "for the purpose of doing good in the world."  In 1928 it was renamed The Rotary Foundation.

The money in the Foundation is used to match monies raised by clubs for local and international service projects.  The Foundation is what has allowed our members to do everything from fight Polio to ShoeBox projects and more.

Save the Date:  October 23rd  -- Two events -- Rotary evening with The Cleveland Orchestra & a Separate Dinner to follow.
